The Space welcomes ComedySportz, the internationally-acclaimed and hilarious improvisational comedy troupe featuring two teams of professional comedians competing for laughs, points and audience support. Shows are scheduled for September 21, October 6 and 20.

“I am thrilled to be able to bring ComedySportz to The Space. It’s a fun, fast-paced comedy show – improv comedy as a sport – that’s great for everyone and groups of all types,” said Mark Shunock, owner and creator of The Space. “This format is truly unique and will fit right in at The Space. I can’t wait to get back into the fun of an improv class this September, right here in Las Vegas rather than having to go to Los Angeles or New York.”

ComedySportz Official LogoComedySportz has been bringing “the funny” to cities across the United States and Europe since 1984. Las Vegas is the 31st city to join the ComedySportz family. Lana Green has been a pro player with ComedySportz Buffalo in New York for nearly a decade and is currently its board president. She also has operated a successful staffing agency in Las Vegas since 2003.

“I knew I wanted to open my very own ComedySportz after I saw the first show in Buffalo in 2008, and it’s so exciting to do it here and partner with The Space to bring laughter and joy to Las Vegas,” she said.

Robert Cochrane is an award-winning filmmaker, sports fanatic and long-time Las Vegas resident who co-founded ComedySports Las Vegas with Green.

“I’ve been working to bring ComedySportz to Las Vegas for about a decade. Though it took a long time to put this together, we have awesome team and the city is ready for it. This is a dream come true,” says Cochrane

ComedySportz Improv Class

The ComedySportz team will be offering classes to learn the basics of improv, focusing on characters, storytelling, teamwork and more from Sept. 18 to Nov. 7. No experience is necessary.

“The fun, interactive and informative classes will have participants involved from day one,” said Green. Cochrane added, “The classes are perfect for anyone who wants to meet new people, speak up at work more, hone their performance skills, or just have some fun.”

Covering eight weeks beginning Sept. 18, the Intro to Improv class options are Tuesdays, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., or Wednesdays, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., for $250 per person. For class information and registration, visit
